5 Reasons to stay fit this festive season

It’s OFFICIAL, Halloween is over and the countdown to Christmas has arrived! The festive season is here, enter the uber-hectic schedules.

Unfortunately, it’s true, when December hits, healthy living and fitness routines tend to go out the window. With Christmas parties, work socials, and squeezing in as many family and friend gatherings as you can (you can’t possibly leave anyone out) – the gym and your usual fitness activities can be left by the wayside  It’s hard to feel motivated to get cracking on your workout, we understand, but we’ve got 5 reasons why you should stay fit this festive season.

  1. HOORAY for quiet gyms!

Most people would much rather be Christmas shopping, spending time arranging, cooking, ticking off lists, socialising and the works! Why not take advantage and hit your gym?

More machines available,  plenty of space to stretch out, and no booking issues for your FAV class!  Sounds like a win to us!

  1. Energy for DAYS!

The festive season can feel like 3 months – it just keeps on going, and it can be exhausting! It’s no secret that exercise increases your energy levels and gives you endorphins, helping you to stay alert and happy, as well as maintaining your consistency so it’s not too hard to get on with it when the new year comes, as you have already been sticking to your exercise routines. GO YOU!

  1. Keep the weight away!

December is going to be a test. With many Christmas lunches, dinners, rich, salty food and plenty to drink, of course, you are going to feel pretty festive and merry in the moment, but by the time January comes and it’s back to work, those work pants are going to feel slightly tighter than usual.  Keeping up small amounts of cardio (swimming, cycling, jogging, aerobics etc) will help to keep the sneaky clothes elves from sewing your pants a bit too small!

  1. Sleep (it’s anti-aging!) 7-8 hours a night

Exercise increases the amount of slow-wave sleep you get. Slow wave sleep refers to deep sleep, where the brain and body have a chance to rejuvenate, leading you to wake up refreshed and restored. Exercise can also help to stabilise your mood and decompress the mind. Happy, healthy and NOT exhausted for the win.

  1. Immune Booster Activated

With having just been through a world pandemic, our immune system needs all the help it can get! To keep up your immune system (along with vitamins), keeping active and fit will ensure you stay fighting fit for attacking germs, not to mention the rise in your body temperature can help your body fight infections even better! Germs BE GONE.
