2023 Goals

We all know that come the new year and exercising and going on a diet are 2 of the most common new year resolutions people make. But let’s be honest here, the majority of us fail to keep our resolutions. We’ll admit that sounds quite daunting, but the Infinity Grip team is here to give you some tips and moral support that may help you keep exercising if that’s your goal this year.

1. Plans and goals people, PLANS AND GOALS!

The most important part of seeing your resolutions through is to set both your goal (think SMART – Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound) and a firm roadmap of how you are going to get there. This will increase your odds of success in reaching that goal. Break larger goals down into smaller achievable daily goals. Remember “sugar honey ice tea” happens so you should have measures in place if you get injured or sick and also plan breaks to prevent exhaustion.

Our favourite part of setting goals and plans is the CHECKLIST – being able to tick off the goals as you go helps keep you motivated and accountable.

2. Don’t take up an exercise you don’t enjoy it

Trying out different types of exercise is great. Running, swimming, boot camp, boxing, and CrossFit are all very good for health and improve fitness levels, cardiovascular health and mental health, however, with that in mind, there are certain exercises you might loathe to do, so – don’t do them. The key to sticking to a fitness regime along with your goals and plans is to do something that you ACTUALLY enjoy, it makes it much easier to continue if you enjoy what you are doing as opposed to trying to force yourself to do something you dread. Research shows that all and any exercise regardless of what it is that you enjoy doing helps with your health and longevity.

3. Buddy Up

Most of us need to be held accountable and the peer pressure from an exercising partner helps tons with this, so getting an exercising buddy who will encourage, motivate and occasionally guilt trip you into getting up off the couch to follow through with your fitness plan is a MUST. Positive interactions with others help to make exercising more fun which definitely is the way to go if you are hoping to stick to your “new year new you” resolution plans.

Lastly and most importantly, don’t forget to bring, and share your Infinity Grip!
